Natural Whey
Throughout history, whey was a popular drink in many countries. Whey protein, a by-product of milk and cheese, was promoted for its health benefits since ancient times. These days, it is often referred to as the gold standard of protein.

Whey protein contains lactose, vitamins, protein, and minerals, and has been linked to a variety of health benefits, including:
• Helping your insulin work more effectively, including helping maintain blood sugar level after a meal.
• Promoting healthy insulin secretion, which is imperative for optimal health.
• Helping to promote your optimal intake of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals needed for your overall wellness.
• Helping you preserve lean body tissue (particularly during exercise) as it delivers bioavailable amino acids and cysteine.
• Supporting your immune system, as it contains immunoglobulins.
• Maintaining blood pressure levels that are already within the normal range.
The body with age gradually loses its ability to produce critical amino acids- the essential proteins we need for energy production, immune actions and protein buildup in your muscle. We need these amino acids, especially in times of high physical stress, like after a workout, when recovering from injury or illness and as we age.
It’s also great food because it has glutathione- the body’s most powerful antioxidant, a tripeptide found inside every single cell in your body. Use it as a health drink and to enrich bakery products or instead of water to produce bread dough. So, next time after making your cottage cheese, don’t throw it out. Enjoy it as one of the best health foods!

We enjoy using whey for making pancakes or smoothies, especially our “liquid salad” in our magic bullet.  spinach

My  Liquid Salad Smoothie
• 1 cup fresh whey
• 1/2 cup fresh cherimoya or banana (frozen fruit works fine as well)
• 1 tsp turmeric root (best organic and freshly grated, but powdered will work fine)
• 1/2 Tbsp moringa powder
*Cherimoya which is an excellent source of vitamin B6, vitamin C, dietary fiber and riboflavin, is in season again. Besides it’s very sweet, so there is no need for a sweetener. Make sure to get rid of seeds though!

Start with your fruit in the bottom of your bullet, then your salad (spinach, water cress, collard greens, etc.) Add your whey, then turmeric with some ground black pepper to support a healthy immune system and moringa powder for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibacterial, benefits. Blend ingredients in a bullet until quite smooth. Pour and enjoy! YAM-M-M! Serves 1
